I finally bought a good pair of trainers this week, for the
sponsored walk I am doing in July. Unfortunately, not much training has happened this week, so I've not had a chance to wear them yet. We did manage to go out for about an hour and a half on Thursday. That was an interesting walk to say the least. First of all we were walking parallel to a road that we thought would take us back home, then we realised we were actually following the bypass into the next town! So we turned around and started going back the way we had just come.
By this point, my three year old (Maddie) had had enough and refused to walk any further! Luckily a friend of mine had lent me a Kozycarrier baby sling, so I popped Maddie on my back - piggy back style - and tied the sling round so she couldn't fall. Just my luck that the way home was uphill! It is hard enough taking myself on these long walks, but to be carrying a 3 year old and pushing a baby too, I certainly slept well that night!
Halfway home, we could see a couple of dogs approaching us. They were on leads and my friend put her dog on his lead and we passed each other pretty safely. A few feet on, we heard this woman behind us shouting that the dog had got free and the next thing we knew, he'd jumped on my friend's dog and started attacking him.
Luckily her dog was ok, but it left two 3 year olds screaming with fear and my friend shaking like a leaf. It really does put you off heading out on country walks.
I think next time we go out, it may be best if we leave children and dogs at home!
